THE GREEN ROOM wins the Best Lunch in North Staffordshire award for the second consecutive year. The Green Room adopted a new name and a new identity shortly after the presentation of last year’s award. You can now be waited on by three ladies, all dedicated to giving you the friendliest possible service. An excellent range of coffees, tea, soup, cake, oatcakes, all manner of ‘goodies’ are on offer. During the cold weather they have offered their customers a ‘Winter Warmer’ menu, which has been well received. If you’re looking for an excellent lunch in quiet surroundings, what more could you want?!

THE CROWN has an enviable reputation for the quality of its food. It has a menu which changes according to the seasons and uses only the freshest of ingredients to prepare the numerous and excellent dishes it offers its patrons. We cannot quote the various individual items that have received praise as superlatives have been attached to everything that ACES members have enjoyed at The Crown in 2010!

THE CROWN, Wrinehill - GOLD
THE CROWN won the first ACES Pub of the Year award, in 2005. Since then the number of ACES members has grown , and awards are now presented in the Gold, Silver and Bronze Pub of the Year categories to the Pubs of the Year.THE CROWN wins the Gold award for the Pub of the Year 2010. ACES members have praised the real ales, the food, the clientele, the open fires, the friendly and knowledgeable staff – in fact everything about THE CROWN has received praise. AS several members have said : “This is a pub I can not only take my wife/girlfriend to, but a pub that I am proud to take her to”!

The Malt ‘n’ Hops is a worthy winner of the ACES Pub of the Year Silver Award 2010. If you’re looking for a range of real ales, all in excellent condition, then look no further. For many ACES members, the Malt ‘n’ Hops has always been their pub of choice. Drinkers of all ages can be found in this most convivial of pubs.
THE CONGRESS, Longton - BRONZE
The Congress is a pub that specialises in an excellent, ever--changing selection of real ales. And they are always well-kept. It has a devoted coterie of drinkers and the landlord is an expert ion the subject of all that he has to offer. The Congress wins the ACES Pub of the Year Bronze Award 2010.

REAL ALE OF THE YEAR
Titanic Chocolate & Vanilla Stout - GOLD
Titanic win the Silver Award in 2009 with this same brew. And in 2010 it wins GOLD! ACES members praise its mellow taste, its subtle flavour.
Lymestone Stone the Crows - SILVER
Lymestone win an ACES award for the second year in succession, a marvellous achievement for such a young brewery. Stone the Crows is just one of the many distinctive brews, but is much favoured by ACES members.
Blue Monkey 99 Red Baboons. - BRONZE
Both hoppy and malty, 99 Red Baboons has attracted a lot of attention and received a lot of praise from ACES members, who have different opinions as to what kind of beer this is.. Is it a porter? Is it a mild? Whatever it is, all are agreed : it’s a damn fine drink! And it was a new brew for 2010. Blue Monkey is a Nottinghamshire brewery,. based near the border with Derbyshire.

SERVICE IN PUBLIC TRANSPORT
This ACES award goes to Ariva for the excellence of the service it provides to Stafford Hospital. Passengers say that the service is excellent : reliable, frequent and friendly. People attending hospital need a good service that they can rely on and for Stafford Hospital patients this service is provided by Arriva.
Commended : Virgin Trains for the quality and service of staff at Stoke Station; First for the Banksmen who prevent accidents occurring at Newcastle Bus Sation.
BUS DRIVER OF THE YEAR
DARREN DEAKIN, a FIRST Driver
This award is one of the most hotly contested of all ACES Awards. It seems that every ACES member has a favourite bus driver. But when the word gets round, passengers start to agree that perhaps one driver has particular qualities, such as to make him or her a contender for this title. Darren can be found driving on the southern routes of the city of Stoke-on-Trent.
